Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about Glass Rebel auto glass removal tools, blades, warranty, returns and shipping.

What is the Glass Rebel?

The Glass Rebel is a cordless, brushless auto glass removal tool for professional technicians. It cuts automotive urethane during windshield, back glass and quarter glass removal. It uses a 7/16" quick-connect for tool-free blade changes in six indexed blade positions, has a sheath-free blade design, and has an integrated LED work light at the cutting edge. There are two tools, the Glass Rebel Elite and the Glass Rebel Compact, each sold as a tool only or as a complete kit.

Is the Glass Rebel patent pending?

Yes. Glass Rebel tools, blades and blade handles are patent pending.

What batteries does it use?

DEWALT 20V MAX batteries. The Elite Kit and the Compact Kit each include a genuine DEWALT DCB205 20V MAX 5Ah battery and a DEWALT DCB1104 charger. The Tool Only versions do not include a battery, charger or blades, so they suit technicians who already run DEWALT 20V batteries.

What is the difference between the Elite and the Compact?

Both use the same 7/16" quick-connect with six indexed blade positions, take the same five Glass Rebel blades, and run on DEWALT 20V MAX batteries. The Compact is a smaller, more maneuverable tool for tight access around dashboards, corners, quarter glass, back glass and confined urethane channels. The Elite is the larger of the two.

Which blades come in a kit?

The Elite Kit and the Compact Kit both include all five Glass Rebel blades: 11.5" Long (GR-LB11), 8.5" Medium (GR-MB8), 6.5" Short (GR-SB6), 1.5" Panel (GR-PB1.5) and 1" Panel (GR-PB1).

How do I change a blade?

Retract the slide on the quick-connect and slide the blade out. Line up the new blade's quick-connect end with the opening and push it in until you hear and feel it click. No tools are needed.

Can I use other brands' blades?

No. Never insert anything other than a Glass Rebel blade into the quick-connect. Other blades or objects can damage the mechanism and reduce performance.

How do I keep the blades sharp?

Use the Glass Rebel Two-Step Blade Sharpener, which is included in both kits and sold separately. Always remove the blade from the tool before sharpening, and handle sharpened blades with care. Replace blades as needed to keep cutting efficiently.

How do I maintain the tool?

Always turn the tool off and remove the battery before maintenance. Every few uses, or whenever you notice resistance, put a small amount of oil inside and outside the quick-connect and wipe off the excess. Then briefly run the tool with no blade fitted to spread the oil and clear any residue. Store the tool clean and dry, ideally in its case, and always wear safety glasses when operating it. Water or a water and soap solution helps while cutting. Full instructions are on the Care and Use page.

What is the warranty?

Glass Rebel LLC warrants its hand and power tools to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year from the date of delivery, under normal professional use. If a covered defect appears within that year, there is no cost to you: Glass Rebel sends a prepaid return shipping label, repairs or replaces the tool at its discretion, and ships it back at no charge. Items must include serial/lot info and all accessories.

The warranty does not cover consumables and wear items (including blades), cosmetic wear, misuse, abuse, accidents, impact, neglect, improper storage, modifications, operation outside the tool's rated specifications, or damage caused by non-Glass Rebel accessories. Tools purchased through distributors carry the same warranty. For warranty support, contact (208) 254-0006 or sales@glassrebel.com. See the full Refund and Warranty Policy.

Do I need to register my tool for the warranty?

No. Product registration is optional and is not required for warranty coverage. You can register your tool here if you would like to.

Can I return my order?

Items bought directly from glassrebel.com can be returned within 30 days of delivery if they are unused and in brand-new condition, in the original unopened packaging, and complete with all accessories, inserts and documentation. Any use of the tool voids return eligibility. Returns are subject to a 10% restocking fee, return shipping is paid by the customer, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Request an RMA before shipping anything back: (208) 254-0006 or sales@glassrebel.com. Glass Rebel responds within 2 business days, and returns sent without an RMA number may be refused. Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5 business days of receiving and inspecting the return. Purchases made through distributors or dealers must be returned or exchanged at the original point of sale.

What if my order arrives damaged, defective or wrong?

Contact Glass Rebel within 30 days of delivery. This is not treated as a return: there is no restocking fee and no shipping cost to you. Glass Rebel sends a prepaid return shipping label, repairs or replaces the item at its discretion, and ships it back at no charge. Photos or a short video may be required for verification.
