Is the Compact or the Elite better for tight spaces?

The Compact is better for tight spaces. It is the smaller, lighter tool, designed for better access around dashboards, tight corners, quarter glass, back glass and confined urethane channels.

Both tools have six indexed blade positions, so you can turn the blade to match the angle of attack instead of forcing the tool. This helps the Elite reach tight areas too. Blade choice helps on either tool. The 6.5" Short Blade is for quarter glass and tight corners. The 1" Panel Blade is for narrow access and trim-adjacent cuts. See the blade guide.

Can the Compact cut out a full windshield?

Yes. The Compact takes the 11.5" Long Blade, the blade for windshields, back glass and anywhere you need reach. The Compact Kit includes it.

Is the Elite faster than the Compact?

Yes, by listed stroke speed. The Elite runs about 3,000 strokes per minute. The Compact runs about 2,800. Both tools use a brushless motor. Strokes per minute is a reference spec, not a measure of results.

Do the Compact and Elite use the same blades?

Yes. Both tools use the same 7/16" hex quick-connect and take all five Glass Rebel blades: the 11.5" Long, 8.5" Medium, 6.5" Short, 1.5" Panel and 1" Panel. The same blades also fit the manual Blade Handle. If you own more than one Glass Rebel tool, you need only one set of blades.

Each blade can be resharpened with the Two-Step Blade Sharpener. Blades are designed in the USA and manufactured overseas. Use only Glass Rebel blades in the quick-connect. Other blades or objects can damage the mechanism.

Do the Compact and Elite use the same batteries?

Yes. Both run on DEWALT 20V MAX batteries. Each kit includes one genuine DEWALT DCB205 20V MAX 5Ah battery and a DEWALT DCB1104 4A charger. If you already own DEWALT 20V MAX batteries and a charger, you can buy either tool as Tool Only. Tool Only includes no blades, so add at least one blade.

Should I buy the kit or the tool only?

Buy a kit if you need a battery, a charger and blades. The table above lists everything in each kit. Kits bought on glassrebel.com also include a free Glass Rebel T-shirt in your size.

Buy Tool Only if you already own DEWALT 20V MAX batteries, a charger and Glass Rebel blades. Tool Only includes no blades, battery, charger, sharpener or case. If you have no blades, add at least one.

The Elite Kit and the Elite Tool Only both include the Battery Strap. The Battery Strap is also sold separately.

Is the Elite more expensive than the Compact?

No. On glassrebel.com, as of October 2026, both kits are $899.99 and both Tool Only versions are $649.99. Each blade is $49.99. The Battery Strap is $7.50 on its own. Choose on size, weight, stroke speed and the work you do.

What do I give up with the Compact?

You give up about 200 strokes per minute of listed stroke speed. The Elite Kit and the Elite Tool Only also include the Battery Strap. The Compact Kit and the Compact Tool Only do not. Blades, batteries, warranty and price are the same. In return, you get the smaller, lighter tool for tight spaces.

See the Glass Rebel Compact Kit, the Glass Rebel Compact Tool Only, the Glass Rebel Elite Kit or the Glass Rebel Elite Tool Only.

Do the Compact and Elite have the same warranty and shipping?

Yes. Both tools carry a 1-year limited warranty from the date of delivery. It covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal professional use. Blades and other wear items are not covered. Registration is optional and is not required for coverage. Tools bought through a distributor or dealer carry the same warranty.
